For this assignment, you will focus on an ethical problem you find with a specific issue of your choosing from Richmond City. You will put sources in conversation to illuminate the overlaps and subtle differences between various ethical theories when applied to the problem you establish. The purpose of this essay is to provide a clear picture of the problem and to apply, explain, analyze, and synthesize diverse texts to uncover open-ended responses to it. Your essay should be roughly 1250 to 1500 words. Selecting a Topic and Framing a Problem The topic you pick should come from a problem you see in Richmond City. The major concern is to pick something you actually care about/are interested in and explore many of its ethical dimensions?not just the typical binary, pro/con, yes/no, good/bad understanding of it. There are many problems you may explore, but whatever you establish must be significant, precise, and complex. Additionally, the problem must stem from data you find using Social Explorer, as well as a local text from Richmond City (Richmond Times-Dispatch, Style Weekly, Richmond Free Press, etc.) Key question: What are the nuances of how you?re looking at the issue (i.e. its boundaries), and how should we discuss them?
