Issue Related to Returning to School

Though there are several reasons I could say I’m returning back to school, I can only think of three that are very important to me in this phase of my life. Other than the fact my earning a bachelor’s degree in business management is a big step toward my future goal of owning my own business are one of them, my personal need to have one is more important to me. I also recently realize, after spending twenty years in the military, that experience alone is not enough to qualify for a good paying job in today’s civilian workforce. So, what stimulated my interest to return to school besides earning a bachelor’s degree in the effort to one day own my own business, it would also make me more valuable to a company and give me the opportunity to be more competitive in the higher paying positions in the job market and additionally set a good example for my sons to emulate. I hope returning to school will not only elevate my self-esteem to a new level, but also help me to interact with other more intelligently and frequently. I think I’m very quiet for my age. I believe having the confidence and the ability to speak and write well are key and essential ingredients that is needed to be successful in a position of leadership and by me achieving this, in addition to my years of experience and skills as a soldier, it would make me more competitive both in theory and at work. The major obstacles I will need to overcome to be successful in school are personal and academic. My personal obstacle is financial. Financially, I’m paying for a new home, new car and unexpectedly school. So, unless I get a new job with my new things I want be able to continue school. My retirement check from the military alone can not cover all my needed expenses. Academically, fear of failure has always been an obstacle for me.
