ENERGY MANAGEMENT ASSIGNMENT You will work individually, acting as a small renewable energy consultancy. You have beenassigned a scenario to work with (see accompanying file). Examples of these scenarios include: ??£ A high school ??£ New domestic property developments ??£ Residential care homes ??£ A small farm ??£ A local hospital Each scenario involves a stakeholder who is interested in developing the capacity of their land or site to utilise renewable energy for the purposes of energy self-sufficiency and the potential for some element of energy export. You should focus on technologies which would benefit from the UK Feed in Tariff Scheme and the Renewable Heat Incentive. Your work should consider both of these schemes, and your work should focus on four key areas: An overview of the scenario given including any subsequent assumptions or limitations applied. A critical evaluation of the technologies proposed for use and why. A detailed discussion of how the technologies could be applied i.e. what are the technical challenges, what potential exists? An assessment of the potential cost and payback period for the proposed installation. Submission Information: The coursework should be in the form of an individual report, which does not exceed 2,000 words. Marking Criteria: Marking criteria Comment/guidance Marks available (Max%) Quality of presentation The message of the group needs to come across clearly with the group showing cohesiveness. 20 The scenario Is the scenario well considered, and assumptions well rationalised? Has the group made a good effort to ensure the work is in the context of the set scenario and not simply generic ? 20 Knowledge of technology The group should demonstrate their consideration of technologies, rationalizing their choice and coming to a firm conclusion of what should be utilised. 20 Application of technology, practical considerations Are practical issues addressed with regard to the installation of chosen technologies; does the plan appear to be feasible? Are potential risks identified and mitigated? 20 Cost and payback Payback information should be sufficiently detailed, accounting for aspects such as capital costs, maintenance, and recent changes in government policy. 20 Total 100 Yew Tree Farm Full address: Yew Tree Farm Lower Road, Halewood Liverpool L26 3UA URL: http://www.yew-tree-farm.org/ Function: Agricultural / commercial.
