Quotation that my professor in history used to say during our discussions about the Marcos regime.

I remembered a quotation that my professor in history used to say during our discussions about the Marcos regime. He always said “the means justified the end.” He stated that “During the dictatorship the Filipino was known as a well disciplined country, people in the Philippines walk in the streets not worrying that they could be mugged because they knew it is always safe. But sadly that is not the case for the enemy of the state.” What I know about the Marcos is that they have good intentions for the country but how they acted to fulfill their goals became their downfall. As I watch the film I discovered a new philosophy that I never encountered before. The “Imeldific” philosophy which encourage us to make the world beautiful, because as Imelda used to say “beautiful is natural.” Well for some of her philosophy makes sense but I think her perception of beauty is shallow. When she says make the world beautiful she means it in a physical way. I think she does not know that true beauty comes from the inside. She measures things in quantitative not in a qualitative way. I think this is the negative point of her philosophy and that is why she is too extravagant and attach to material things. There is a scene there when Imelda is being accused of plundering money, jewels and clothes. They say that she was not to be blamed because she did not know that it is not for her. She just knew that in ruling our country the jewels and all other prestige is her reward. These scenes made me really laugh. That was a very lousy excused that I ever heard from someone who plundered the riches pf the Filipinos for 20 years. For me this film is like a satire. This film shows how Filipinos were controlled and misled by beliefs. It also took about 20 years for us to be awakened and become united. Every time I see movies like this I feel really sad because I realize that history always repeats itself. Even if now we are free we are still co…
